With youthful burst of energy and enthusiasm, the performances by the Time for Three (Tf3) trio of classically trained violinists Nicolas (Nick) Kendall and Charles Yang, and double-bassist Ranaan Meyer are irresistibly joyous and virtuosic.

They are known to feature a wide range of music from Bach to the Beatles, to the latest pop hits. In addition to giving world-premieres by Pulitzer Prize-winners William Bolcom and Jennifer Higdon, the American trio plays originals and their own arrangements of everything from bluegrass and folk tunes to ingenious mash-ups of pop hits.

The concert at the Sheen Center on Bleecker Street in the heart of New York’s vibrant and jolly Greenwich Village will surely be a delicious treat for the consummate music lovers!

The group was formed in 2003 when the original members were still students at the Curtis Institute of Music in  Philadelphia, PA. They started playing together for fun mixing in bluegrass, country, and jazz music in the blissfully free and animated playing. Those impromptu jams led to professional appearances first in Philadelphia, PA and later around North America and in Europe. In 2009 the group was selected for a three-year artist-in-residence with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

Recent Highlights include Carnegie Hall, appearances with the Boston Pops, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Melbourne and Sydney Symphony Orchestras, sold-out concerts with the Czech Philharmonic and BBC Proms, and an appearance on the ABC prime time hit show “Dancing with the Stars.”  Time for Three traveled throughout Europe as a highlight act of the 2016 (Night of The Proms) tour.

The Trio was featured in NPR Tiny Desk concerts in 2015. The review on NPR notes musicians’ mastery of the instruments and the desire to look at the music anew that “doesn’t come from the classroom.”

The group is known for its educational outreach. It often plays on university campuses teaming up with the resident musicians there. The Trio’s anti-bullying video was featured on CNN and in The Huffington Post.

Come to The Sheen Center on Friday, May 17 for a night of music and fun!
