Nightlife in NYC: Cyrille Aimee at Birdland Club in November 2019

Nightlife in NYC: Cyrille Aimee at Birdland Club in November 2019

Returning to Birdland Jazz Club after a memorable gig there in February of 2019, Cyrille Aimee is bringing her new collection of songs from Sondheim songbook for a pre-holiday run. Diving deep into the oeuvre of the beloved American composer and songwriter, Aimee aims higher than just presenting a beautiful rendition of the familiar music and lyrics. It is a touchingly personal story of the singer’s life and emotions. Aimee’s crisp and delicate voice, playful style, a dizzying mix of jazz, soul and ethnic vibe makes it that more memorable.

In her bio, she writes that for her “improvisation is not just a technique. It’s a way of life, one that has not only allowed her to share her engaging voice and sparkling creativity with the world, but has led her on an unexpected journey.”

By opening herself to the whim of the moment, Aimée has ventured from singing on street corners in Europe to dazzling audiences at some of the world’s most prestigious jazz festivals; from sneaking out to sing in gypsy encampments in her native France to acting on Broadway; from braving the notoriously tough audiences at New York’s Apollo Theatre to being hailed by The Wall Street Journal as “one of the most promising jazz singers of her generation” and called a “rising star in the galaxy of jazz singers” by the New York Times.

Treat yourself with a night of great songs by Cyrille Aimee on November 19 – 23, 2019 at Birdland, the the hottest club in town. BUY TICKETS

Virtuoso guitarist Stephane Wrembel and his band, well known among Jazz Manouche aficionados for their devotion to the oeuvre of the legendary Django Reinhardt, team up with a very special guest Bria Skonberg who brings her trumpet and lots of energy to the performances at Joe’s Pub.
