Natalia Lavrova, a sensible and highly sophisticated pianist, presents a program of fairytale-like fantasies told through the music. Always searching for new additions to her ever expanding active repertoire, with this program Lavrova takes on some of the pieces considered to be the most challenging   such as Rachmaninoff’s Variations on a theme of Corelli or Liszt’s Dante Sonata.

This potent mix of music which is “architecturally” structured in its form as Lavrova puts it yet inspired by the dreams and tales requires a deep understanding of the scores and an impeccable technique. Both will surely be appreciated by the audience. Lavrova’s appearances with recitals and concert performances around the world brought her high acclaim and enthusiastic reviews for her style and command of the instrument. The virtuosic program on January 6, 2019 is promising to be a gratifying experience for every music lover. For tickets click here.

Music in NYC: Jeremy Denk and Friends at Carnegie Hall

Music in NYC: Jeremy Denk and Friends at Carnegie Hall

American piano virtuoso Jeremy Denk doesn’t need an elaborate introduction as his lyrical and exacting style and an exquisite taste in program selection earned him high accolades from the critics and a faithful following by the fans. His genuine performing style calls for an equally well-attuned play by his partners on stage. So it is not surprising that for this Carnegie Hall appearance Denk invited his friends the violinists who can match in virtuosity when playing “mature” Mozart sonatas for piano and violin together with the music by Handel, Ravel, Stravinsky, Adams and others.

Mozart, who was known for his brilliant command of the piano and the violin, had written the sonatas included in this program when he was still employed in Salzburg.  While the sonatas from his early period have the violin in the lead, the more mature pieces call for an even-handed treatment of the instruments. The intertwined parts of the scores don’t delineate for a solo and an accompaniment role but create a wholesome arrangement. That is the main idea behind this carefully curated musical holiday present to every music lover.
