“In Celebration of a Great Artist” program dedicated to 125th anniversary of Tchaikovsky’s death is performed at the Bronxville Women’s Club on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 7.30 pm

Presented by Midland Concert Series, “In Celebration of a Great Artist” an all Tchaikovsky program with a breathtaking Piano Trio in A Minor and Concert Suite “The Nutcracker “ is a wonderful holiday treat for music lovers. The program features pianists Vassily Primakov and Oxana Mikhailoff, violinist Filip Pogády, and cellist Yves Dharamraj.

While no-one can imagine Winter Holiday time without the eternal music from the Nutcracker, the rest of the program is a thought-provoking and serious compositions perfectly fitting for the concert in memory of a beloved composer. The truly international group of musicians assembled for this concert is a testimony of the universal power of great music and of Tchaikovsky’s enormous contribution to this art genre.

Engaging series of chamber concerts in a salon-like setting of the historic architectural landmark in Bronxville, NY, the Midland Concert Series are striving to illuminate its music selections for the maximum audience enjoyment and gratification. Its 2018 Season opens with an enchanting all-Russian music program for two pianos and six (6)!!!! hands featuring Two Suites by Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony “Pathetique” transcribed for two-pianos.

This one-of-a-kind concert brings together Vassily Primakov, a passionate interpreter of Chopin, Oxana Mikhailoff, a poetic pianist, sought-after music educator, and a passionate director of the Midland Music Series, and Natalia Lavrova, a pianist known for her sincerity in playing in solo recitals and concerts and a formidable art administrator.

Vassily Primakov, Oxana Mikhailoff and Natalia Lavrova, acclaimed classical pianists and the regulars on the music scene in and around New York City, are teaming up to perform a delightful all-Russian music program for two pianos and six (6)!!!! hands featuring Two Suites by Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony “Pathetique” transcribed for two-pianos. The picturesque campus of Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY houses an inviting and intimate Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center which serves as an art education lab for students and faculty and an exhibition venue for the public. The center is holding insightful exposés from its collection rotating the focus from American Contemporary Art to Northern European Renaissance to Abstract Impressionism. A visit to the art center organically fits in with pensive nature walks and visits to the historic sites in Hudson Valley.

The Northern European Art 1500-1700 exhibition is celebrating the career of Susan Donahue Kuretsky, Vassar College Class of 1963 and Professor of Art who taught at Vassar for forty years. The exhibition will be on view from April 27 – September 2, 2018 and the admission to the art center is free of charge.
